The Original Epstein Sweatshirt Sold for $11,000: The Full Story of the Miami Sale

Most viral clothing never leaves the screen. The Epstein quarter zip is different: the physical sweater from the 2005 photograph surfaced in a Miami showroom in September 2025, drew thousands of messages and at least one six-figure offer, and was sold for $11,000. Here is what was reported, who sold it, and what it means for everyone searching for one today.

The listing

On 2 September 2025 the Instagram account @restricted.lifestyle, a by-appointment vintage showroom in Miami's Midtown, posted photos of a navy quarter-zip with red JEE initials and a flag patch. The caption, quoted by the Miami New Times, read: "1of1 worn JEFFREY EPSTEIN quarter zip museum piece fr…straight from Mar A Lago. This piece is very controversial and iconic. 100 percent authentic size M."

The post collected more than 28,000 likes within five months, according to Know Your Meme. Two days later Complex's Instagram account reported the alleged $11,000 asking price, adding another 24,000 likes. The New Times called the listing "downright disturbing"; AlterNet picked the story up under the same headline, and the sweater became a news item rather than just a meme.

How the showroom says it got the sweater

In a follow-up interview published on 20 September 2025, the showroom's owner, identified only as Mar, told the Miami New Times that a client from West Palm Beach brought the sweater in for authentication and that he did not initially recognise it. His authentication process, as described in the article, was a one-to-one comparison against the photographs of Epstein wearing it, plus close examination of the zipper and stitching. He described the garment as "older and faded" and said the client also showed him mail and prescription bottles.

The showroom normally deals in Hermès, Chrome Hearts and Chanel. Mar told the paper he wanted the item gone quickly and listed it the day after receiving it.

The sale

The response was immediate. Mar said he received more than 5,000 direct messages and that "a known person on the internet" had six or seven people reach out on his behalf with a $100,000 offer. He turned it down and sold the sweater to a loyal client, whom he described as also famous, for $11,000. The New Times debunked the rumour that streetwear designer Ian Connor was the buyer; Connor had only commented "Dm" with a money-bag emoji on the original post.

Nobody has independently verified the authenticity of the sweater. Know Your Meme notes the claim as unconfirmed, and so do we.

Vanity Fair revisited the sale in February 2026, describing Restricted as "a Miami luxury reseller that primarily stocks Chrome Hearts and accepts cryptocurrency as payment", and noting from the Epstein files that he also owned the sweater in white and tried to give such sweatshirts as gifts.

What it did to the replica market

The sale is the moment the sweater went from an image to an object people wanted to own. Within months:

  • Etsy filled with embroidered copies priced from ten to forty-five dollars, per Film Daily.
  • Nick Fuentes launched a "U.S.A." variant at $69.99 on 31 January 2026 and claimed a thousand sold within a day.
  • eBay and Vinted removed some listings after complaints; Etsy did not.
  • Vanity Fair's February 2026 feature listed "epsteinquarterzip.com ($49.00)" alongside Etsy and Fuentes as where to buy one, and Film Daily's September 2026 report called it the dedicated site for reproductions.

Our position is simple. The original exists once and it is gone. What we make is a faithful new garment, cut to the photograph, and we say so on every page. If you want the story behind the construction, read how we made it; if you want to see it, the product page has every angle.
